According to the Shields Gazette, who are most of the time very reliable with their transfer stories, Arsenal are in talks with English Championship side Newcastle United who are interested in signing highly rated Arsenal youngster Isaac Hayden.
The 21-year-old Arsenal defender spent last term on loan with Hull City and made 18 championship appearances for the newly promoted club.
Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez sees the youngster as a replacement for Steven Taylor, who is set to leave Newcastle United this summer.
The hard-working wonder kid can play as a centre-back as well as a defensive midfielder.
Hayden was described as a “manager’s dream” by Hull City manager Steve Bruce, who has also declared an interest in turning the loan deal into a permanent switch this summer.
Hayden was a popular signing with Hull City fans last season. The fans admired his combative style of play and earlier last season, Steve Bruce suggested he may look to bring him in on a permanent deal.
Isaac Hayden thanked the Hull city fans after returning to his parent club Arsenal at the end of last season.
He said he felt “privileged” to have been part of the team which won promotion to the English Premier League in a dramatic play-off final against Sheffield Wednesday.
