With Granit Xhaka signed, we desperately need to sign a striker and if you believe reports in the media today, Wenger is set to bring in a striker and very soon. According to Mirror.co.uk (via El Confidential) Arsenal is reportedly interested in France international striker Karim Benzema. It would likely require a reasonable transfer fee to get Benzema to the North London club.
The 28 year old Real Madrid striker has thrived very well in La Liga. The Real striker has scored 10 goals or more in La Liga for each of the past 6 seasons which is what Arsenal has lacked and it would be difficult for Real Madrid to give up such a productive player, but it could still happen if Arsenal insist.
The Spanish giant would reportedly only be willing to part ways with the French international striker if they are able to get a replacement for the French man.
The star striker would be a great signing for the Gunners, and he is the type of player who could help the London club win major trophies. He should be a must signing, so long as his transfer fee is not outrageous, which I don’t expect it to be.
But it looks unlikely that the Emirate club will be able to make a transfer for Benzema. Real will reportedly only sell the striker if they get a replacement, and even if that happens he might be out of Arsenal’s price range anyway.
Bringing a proven goal scorer, who is sure of scoring more that 25 goals in a season is the way to go for Arsenal as they Gunners look to mount a strong title challenge next term. He will be available cheaper than most other strikers and he is still among the World best strikers.
