According to reports, Gonzalo Higuain will not renew his current contract with Napoli, which only has two more years left to run. And the reports went further to claim he is very likely to be playing for Arsenal in the Premier League next season.
Last season in the Serie A, the Argentine netted 36-goals in 35 matches, which has seen him being linked with a number of top clubs already this summer, per the Daily Express.
The Argentine’s agent and brother, Nicolas, said they are unhappy that the Azzurri are insisting any interested suitors meet the 28-year-old massive €94 million (£77.8 million) release clause. It is reported that Napoli could be forced to accept a bid of £45 million.
With no doubt, Higuain wants to move to a bigger club and with Napoli having managed only to secure third-place, fifth-place and second-place Serie A finishes since he joined the club, it is no wonder he wants to leave for a club where he will have a chance of winning titles.
Given his proven quality in front of goal at the highest level, Higuain could undoubtedly thrive in any of Europe’s major leagues, having already impressed in the Serie A and La Liga.
