If reports from French media are anything to go by, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to make a signing that will shock the world of football. However, he has to beat off competition from Liverpool to do so. That’s easy isn’t it.
According to reports, Arsenal and Liverpool are set to go head to head for the signature of Lyon and France international attacker Alexandre Lacazette. Lacazette has been linked with a move to the Premier League all summer, and as per report from the Daily Star who themselves are citing reports from the French media, the Reds are set to hijack the Gunners move for the Frenchman.
The Sun newspaper had earlier revealed that Wenger had held talks with the Frenchman and there was a piece from the Telegraph that stated the manager is willing to meet Lyon £34.2 million valuation.
However, with Liverpool now entering the race for the player, Arsenal needs to move very fast or risk losing out on signing the young Frenchman.
Lacazette is indeed one of the most promising strikers in Europe today, and a move to the Premier League is looking like on the card for him. Reports claim the Frenchman himself is keen on a move, but as of yet it is unclear where he will go. West Ham have had three bids rejected for him but off course, Liverpool are bigger than the hammers and may be a tempting prospect for the 25-year-old goalpoacher.
Arsenal can however use the lure of the Champions League which Liverpool do not have to offer and the offer of more weekly wages to convince the player to move to the Emirates rather than Anfield.
Also, Wenger’s influence among French players could play a major role in who wins the race for the very promising striker.
