Having been rejected by Leicester City and England international striker Jamie Vardy, Arsenal have been linked with the signing of many strikers. One of such is Dutchman Vincent Janssen. However, the Dutch international is set to complete his move to North London rivals Tottenham next week after his current Eredivise club AZ Alkmaar agreed on a transfer fee.
The 22-year-old Dutch sensation did brilliantly well in his first Eredivisie season last term scoring 27 goals in 34 games. Janssen has since been linked with a move to Arsenal all summer, as Wenger hope to bolster his current squad against next season. This is another setback for the Gunners, losing out on another target.
The North London rival club had earlier failed with a £12m offer for the Dutch international with interest high among the likes of PSG and West Ham United. Spurs managed to improve their bid and negotiate a £16m sum for his services as the player is firm in his desire to join Spurs,.
The striker, who has been dubbed ‘the next Ruud van Nisterooy’, has lot of potentials in him after an excellent start to his international career, scoring three goals in just five appearances. The Netherland international striker Eredivise club joined AZ Alkmaar from Almere City for only £340k last summer.
Arsenal fans in coming years will be regretting that the club was not serious enough to sign such a player who has potentials to become the next big thing in world football.
