Real Madrid just recently completed the signing of Paraguayan wonder kid who has been described as the ‘new Kun Aguero’ in his homeland. Last season was somewhat strange for the young Paraguayan as, a proposed moved to Roma looked set in stone last summer, the deal fell through at the final hour after Diaz announced that Arsenal was in fact his real dream destination.
The 18-year-old forward has been a hit sensation since his debut in Paraguay’s top flight in 2014 with Cerro a few precocious records in his native country; making his full debut at the age of 15, Diaz has scored 15 goals in 62 games. He has since played for Paraguay’s under-20s since he turned 16 and featured for the Under-23s at this year’s Toulon Tournament.
The new Madrid signing who has striking features with Sergio Aguero is short in stature but skilled on the ball, able to protect the ball than most will expect considering his size and able to make darting runs behind defenders.
Madrid splashed a whopping five million euros to Asunsión-based outfit Cerro Porteño for the player – plus a further million euros in performance-related add-ons. Sergio Díaz has been offered a five-year contract and has been brought in to strengthen Real Madrid Castilla’s attack for when Santiago Solari takes over command for the new season.
The striker who expects to be loaned out to Roma has since confessed his love for Arsenal, stating that “Yes, my dream since as a kid was to play for Arsenal.”
