Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is believe not to be only in France as a pundit alone but also to set his eyes on some excellent players. As per reports from French paper L’Equipe, the Frenchman has set his sight on signing Lille defender Djibril Sidibe.
Report has it that the north London outfit has approached the player to find out whether the French defender would be available for transfer this summer. According to the reports, Arsenal made contact with Lille in the last 48 hours and hour the player can undergo his medical by Monday.
The player was initially thought to be on his way to Monaco but Arsenal have now hijacked the deal. His move to AS Monaco was believed to have been done before Arsenal came in and hijacked the deal. The player is said to have been tempted by the offer from Arsenal as he believes Arsenal is a step higher than Monaco.
The versatility of the player is said to have been the main reason why Wenger is so interested in him. Sibide can play both as a right back which is his primary role and as a left back, a position he played for Lille for the bulk of last season.
If he joins Arsenal, he will be expected to be a back up/competition for Bellerin and as Gibbs is said to likely leave, he will also be a back up to Monreal which means he will certainly get some game time.
