Alvaro Morata is one marquee signing that all Arsenal fans will be hoping to dawn the great red and white jersey of Arsenal next season. Arsenal has been heavily linked with the 23-year-old striker who was in amazing form for Spain while they played in the on-going Euros, scoring 3 goals.
Morata had a beautiful spell while playing for the Old Ladies of Turin (Juventus) since joining them in 2014. He guided the Serie A side win 2 titles back-to-back, contributing with 27 goals in 93 appearances. His fine form didn’t go unnoticed as it sparked interest from Arsenal and Chelsea as both sides are looking to bolster their striking options.
Madrid during the close season triggered €32 million buy back clause to resign him from Juventus. According to latest reports, Morata’s agent Juanma Lopez was meeting Madrid officials at the Santiago Bernabéu amid claims he is set for a move to England over the close season.
Morata is keen to negotiate an increase in his yearly salary. He was earning around £3.4m during his two-year loan spell at Italian champions Juventus, and is now looking forward to a £7.6m per season in wage.
Chelsea seems to be in the forefront to sign the prolific striker, as they look forward to rebuilding their underperforming team from last season. Chelsea will be more than willing to part with that’s sum on wages for the Spanish and Real Madrid forward. With Chelsea more than willing to match his wage demands, this puts them in pole position to land Morata ahead of Arsenal.
