Arsenal is set to lose academy prodigy Isaac Hayden to Newcastle. The England U20 defensive midfield player who can also play as a full back or center back is set to sign a 5-year contract with recently relegated side Newcastle.
The 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan with newly promoted side Hull City is expected to complete this move once a medical is completed. Reports that Arsenal have agreed a transfer fee of £2.5million from Newcastle.
Coming through the north Londoners’ youth ranks, the versatile youngster has also played in all of England’s youth teams up to the under-20s. Hayden has made only two first team appearances for Arsenal and both features were in the League cup, failing to make any Premier league appearance.
During his loan spell at Hull City last season he was in and out of the team, but showed quality on occasions. And was able to guide Hull City gain promotion to the Premier league. His experience in the Championship would certainly be a useful addition to Newcastle’s squad as they fight for promotion back to the Premier league.
Most Arsenal fans will be disappointed that Wenger will be willing to cash in on the promising versatile midfielder, as it is only a matter of game time before he begins to fulfill his potential.
