According to report in German tabloid Express, the Gunners have submitted a £12m bid for Serbian international Neven Subotic after reports indicated that the defender was given the go ahead to leave the Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund this summer,.
Subotic has since fallen out-of-favour at the Bundesliga club, as he only played 6 Bundesliga matches last season, and it was declared earlier this month that he willing to leave the German club this summer.
The 27-year-old defender is no longer training with Dortmund according to Bild, after the Bundesliga club agreed that he could discuss personal terms with suitors, to secure a move out of the club, with clubs like Sunderland and Middlesbrough among the clubs said to be interested in his service.
However, report has it that North Londoners Arsenal is in pole position to sign the Serbian, after submitting a £12m offer for his signature.
The Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger’s primary concern this summer is to sign a striker but it looks like he’s also looking to bolster his defence as the Gunners need to sign a replacement for Calum Chambers who is set to leave the London club on loan.
The defender, who is yet to play for his country since 2013 could find it hard securing a work permit for himself, should Arsenal sign the Serbian.
