Arsenal is set to sign long term target German midfielder Julian Draxler. Wolfsburg Sporting Director Klaus Allofs has dropped the biggest hint so far, confirming Arsene is likely to reignite their long-standing interest in Draxler.
In 2014 Wenger tried securing the services of the talented 22-year-old but failed to agree on a transfer fee with the German giants. After Arsenal’s failed bid Draxler completed a move to Wolfsburg as a replacement for Manchester City’s bound Kevin De Bruyne.
Draxler is currently contracted to Wolfsburg until 2020, but reports from the Bild claims that Wolfsburg would be more than willing to listen to offers in the region of £55 million for the Germany international. The world cup winner who played for his national team at the just concluded Euros as Germany reached the semi-finals, has recently communicated his wish to leave the club this summer
Wenger is keen to bolster his attacking options as his side plans to mount a Premier league title bid after finishing last season runners-up to Leicester City. Draxler has been identified as a solution to Arsenal’s attacking crisis.
Arsenal needs a main striker who is clinical and a threat to defenders after missing out on Leicester’s striker Jamie Vardy. But Draxler who usually plays behind the main striker will be bringing something new to the Arsenal attack.
