Julian Draxler who has been been previously linked to Manchester United is now set for a move to North London side Arsenal. Wenger would be looking to pull one over Jose just before the start of the season by capturing the signature of Draxler according to reports from the German media.
United was said to be in pole position to sign Draxler, but Wenger has acted swiftly by submitting an initial bid of £43 million for the German and Wolfsburg attacker.
Arsenal has been linked with the signing of Draxler in every transfer window in the last few years, Wenger was interested in securing the 22-year old’s services last season, but the attacker opted to prolong his stay in Germany and signed for Wolfsburg. Wenger will be hoping to put this to bed after launching a formal bid of £43 million.
Draxler has been identified to add more fire-power to a Gunners side that struggled in front of goal for the majority of the 2015/16 season.
Despite having world class midfield maestro Mesut Ozil creating chance after chance for the front-men, the likes of Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott failing to make anything out of them.
Draxler who can be employed to play on either flank, but prefers to ply his trade on the left-wing where he can play close to the touchline, cut-in and whip the ball into the 18-yard-area. He is quick on his feet with incredible dribbling ability, making him a good fit for Arsenal.
