Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly been relatively quiet in the summer transfer market compared to the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City not to forget, Liverpool as well as Everton and some other Premier League rivals.
While the Manchester’s have reportedly invested upwards of £330 million in new players, the north London club have barely spent £100 million between them.
That is not to say Chelsea and Arsenal have not pursued several targets over the course of the summer window, but they certainly have not engaged in as much transfer activity as some would
With transfer deadline upon us all, Wenger and Conte face a strong race against time to snap up and any last minute additions.
Both desperate to top up the squads they will use until at least January, Chelsea and Arsenal are set to go head to head for the same player in the dying days of the window.
According to a source from Croatian, the report from the media outlet claims Arsenal will face strong competition for the signature of Inter Milan’s and Croatian international midfielder Marcelo Brozovic after his agent Miroslav Bicanic admits both club are lining-up move for his client.
However, in getting his service before the transfer deadline, he will likely be available for around £25.5 million as the Serie A giants are keen on balancing their books after they’ve just concluded the signing of Gabriel Barbosa and Joao Mario.
The agent as quoted from the aforementioned Croatian media outlet says as follows, “It’s true, there are many options and we are talking about some big European clubs,”
“I heard that Chelsea representatives are in Milan and that Arsenal are also prepared to sign him.
“Inter are pushing to sell to one of these two clubs who are prepared to pay a sum that satisfies all concerned.
“However, I am currently in Zagreb and there’s plenty of time before transfer deadline day.
“The matter is not so urgent and until Marcelo signs a contract with another club, he remains an Inter player.” Bicani said.
Italian rival club and Serie A champions Juventus have also been linked with the box-to-box midfielder after the Old Lady’s bid for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi turned down.
However, Juve interest in Brozovic should not be an issue for us should Wenger is really keen on signing the 23-year-old to the Emirates this summers as report suggested that Inter are not willing to selling the versatile midfielder to a domestic rival.
Conte and Wenger will be so desperate to get their hands dirty on signing the midfielder as both club look like title challengers.
