Hector Bellerin’s agent says he is close to signing a new contract with Arsenal. The Spaniard’s agent has insisted that the defender is happy with his stay at the Emirates and wants to sign a new deal with the north London club.
The Spanish international has seen his stock rise since breaking into the Arsenal first team and act as an upgrade to injury prone Mathieu Debuchy. Bellerin has developed into one of the Premier League’s top defenders since breaking into the first team.
Ever since then, he has been linked with a possible transfer back to his boyhood club Barcelona in the past.
However, his agent Albert Botines has dismissed any possibility of the star returning back to Barcelona as he reveals the star is happy with his stay with the Gunners.
Speaking in an interview with The Guardian, Bellerin said: “We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. In a normal situation he will sign.
“Hector is very happy at Arsenal. This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress.”
Arsenal are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table and two points behind leaders Liverpool after their 1-1 draw with Tottenham at the weekend.
Bellerin will be hoping to feature for the Gunners when they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford after the international break in their next Premier League game.
