Alexis Sanchez enters Arsenal record books with 14-minute hat-trick

Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez was in stunning form today to hit a hat-trick in the club’s 5-1 thrashing of West Ham United.

The Chile international scored three times in just fourteen second-half minutes to deliver a big victory for the Gunners, who moved above Liverpool into second in the table.

In doing so, Sanchez scored Arsenal’s third-quickest hat-trick in the Premier League era, putting him just behind club legend Ian Wright and a surprise name in Jermaine Pennant.

Wright netted his treble in just nine minutes against Ipswich Town in 1995, while Pennant enjoyed the highlight of his Arsenal career by a long way with three goals in ten minutes against Southampton in 2003.

This completed a great evening for Sanchez, who also moved level with Chelsea striker Diego Costa at the top of the Premier League’s scoring charts, with eleven goals for the season so far.

Not bad for a player many thought couldn’t play up front earlier in the season!
