Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
Atalanta are reportedly holding out for at least €30m for rapidly rising young star Frank Kessie, a player who is thought to have a number of the biggest clubs in Serie A and the Premier League chasing his signature.
Liverpool and Juventus have been linked with the Ivory Coast international in recent weeks and rumour had it that Kessie’s agent was due to meet with the Reds this month.
Now, TuttoMercatoWeb in Italy has claimed that the player could become the subject of a bidding war. Tottenham have apparently already made a €23m offer, while Arsenal allegedly also hold an interest.
It is suggested that Manchester United and Manchester City would be willing to pay €25m, but none will see their bids for Kessie accepted straight away because Atalanta are keen to assess their selling options and hold out for the best price – €30m if possible.
The youngster’s future has been a subject of much speculation so far this season. Only last weekend a report from Italian publication Corriere dello Sport claimed that Chelsea would win the race ahead of Liverpool, Everton and Juventus.
Kessie has firmly established himself as one of Europe’s most promising young players this season after scoring six times in 16 Serie A appearances from his central midfield position.
An Atalanta side that finished 13th last season and have a history of yo-yo-ing between the first and second tiers of Italian football have been punching well above their weight in 2016/17. They are firmly in the fight for European places as things stand at Christmas and Kessie has been integral.
