According to the Times, Arsene Wenger signing new contract did not in any way affect the future of Arsenal’s key men – Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil – with the duo still determined to leave the club this summer.
Sanchez, will reportedly be moving on this summer, while Mesut Ozil is said to want to see the end of his contract and leave on a free transfer, perhaps to give him the chance to earn a huge wage package at a new club.
Taken from whichever direction, there is no doubt that this will disrupt the Gunners team. Ozil and Sanchez have been a solid rock as much as Wenger has been since they moved to the Emirates, with the duo often responsible for lifting up the team when down in recent years. It is no surprise that Arsenal’s unsuccessful campaign came at the same time as Mesut Ozil’s downward slide this season.
It will be a situation hard to come back from for Wenger. A day that should have been for the celebration of the manager’s new contract turned sour.
