Arsenal are set for a busy time in the transfer market this summer, with speculations making rounds that there would be a club-record deal soon for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.
A deal for the 26-year-old is set to be completed this week and surpasses the £42.5m Arsenal dished out to Real Madrid for Mesut Ozil in 2013 by a small margin, with the Gunners looking set to alter their transfer policy by signing a player who has a record of 37 goals across all competitions last season.
Remarkably, it has now been leaked that Arsenal have been monitoring Lacazette for the past decade and are now finally convinced this is the right time to make a move for the man, with French journalist Julien Laurens telling BBC Radio 5 Live:
“Someone was telling me yesterday that Giles Grimandi, the former Arsenal player who now scouts for Arsenal, first went to watch Alexandre Lacazette ten years ago- when he was 16.”
“They have looked at him so many times, year after year, not always convinced. But this summer finally Arsene Wenger is convinced that this is the right time for him to come to Arsenal, that finally he has matured enough,”
“He’s improved enough, his game all around has improved massively. Wenger last summer was not so sure, the summer before he was not so sure but this summer he’s sure Lacazette can bring something to the club.”
Lacazette’s addition to the Gunner’s team will add more depth to their play which has fallen short ever since Van Persie moved to Manchester United but he needs to improve he can withstand the competition in the Premier League after spending the entirety of his career so far with Lyon.
