Reiss Nelson has been spotted in an entirely different squad number, leading to Speculation that he may likely be set for a change.
Having appeared in the first two matches of the per-season wearing the number 61, Nelson was then pictured before the face off with Bayern Munich wearing a shirt with number 18 during training.
The shirt number 18 is currently worn by Nacho Monreal, which led to speculations that the two players might be interchanging this summer.
It certainly seems to make some sense, Kieran Gibbs (3) and Mathieu Debuchy (2) have been heavily linked with moves away from the club, not participating in the pre-season tour so they can put effort on completing the move.
So there are numbers Nacho can choose from.
However, in the Bayern match Nelson played wearing the number 61, and the player probably aren’t too bothered what number they are wearing when they they not playing for the audience.
Maybe Reiss just needed to borrow Monreal’s spare shirt for whatever reason known to them.
After Wenger confirmed that Nelson would be playing more of a first-team role this year, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a change of number, but at this stage it’s nothing more than speculation.
