Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.
According to Portuguese media outlet Record, as quoted by the Daily Star, Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder William Carvahlo desires a move to Arsenal and The Gunners are negotiating a deal to sign the Portuguese international.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Carvalho several times in the past and their £20.6m offer for the Lisbon plyer was rejected in the 2014-15 summer transfer window.
However, Arsenal now want to reignite their interest in Carvalho, who has a £40m release clause in his contract which is valid till 2020, so they have to spend huge to acquire the services of the player, the Lisbon president is set to cut the deal to £27m, which is a decent fee considering the state of the transfer market.
The Gunners currently have Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny playying the defensive midfield role and Carvalho would be an upgrade on at least two of them.
Carvlho has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer with Newcastle and West Brom interested in the midfielder but if Arsenal are interested, then it’d be hard for the him to say no.
