Blow ! Arsenal Lose Key Player To Rival Club

Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.

According to reports in the Sunday Express, Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson has become a prime target for Premier League rivals Swansea City after being granted permission to leave the Gunners this summer.

While the 25-year-old was excluded from the opening months of the season due to a torn ligament in his knee, Jenkinson struggled to move up the pecking order in the Arsenal side with the likes of Hector Bellerin and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain blocking his way when he returned to full fitness.

The right-back made five appearances across all competitions – with just one of those coming in the Premier League against Manchester United at Old Trafford – for the Gunners, and the disappointing campaign comes on the back of a two-season loan spell with West Ham United.

While a transfer fee for the 25-year-old shouldn’t be a problem, the right-back may need to beat down his wage demands if he is to secure a move to the Liberty Stadium in order to grace the pitch more often this coming season.

Kyle Naughton is certainly the first-choice right-back at Swansea at the moment and it wouldn’t be an easy task for Jenkinson to dethrone him in the club, but it would certainly provide Paul Clement with some more competition for places in a side that just escaped relegation to the Championship last season.
