Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger have been widely known for his tight fistedness in the transfer market, but he seem to make a good start to the summer with the early purchase of Alexandre Lacazette for a club record.
The remainder of the summer, however, is likely to signal a return to the relative parsimony that characterized Wenger’s reign before the signing of Ozil and Sanchez – who he also spent huge on. After two signings, it does not look likely there would be anymore signing before the transfer deadline but there are sure to be some exit.
Jeremy Wilson reports that Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain has been granted permission to leave, with the club awaiting a bid from Liverpool, Chelsea, or both for the 24-year-old. Kieran Gibbs has more or less moved to Watford, while Shkodran Mustafi is to be allowed sign for Inter Milan.

Arsene Wenger admitted after last weekend’s defeat to Stoke that he was unimpressed with his central defence (he played three centre backs: Monreal, Mustafi, and Kolasinac), but per Wilson, it looks unlikely that Mustafi (or Gabriel) will be replaced:
No expectation of major Arsenal incomings. Sense they’d rather wait to see if Lemar or Van Dijk became feasible next year than go down list now.
