5-Year-Signed – Club Confirm New Signing

Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.

Arsenal, Inter Milan and Lazio have all missed out in their bid to sign of Besiktas midfielder Tolgay Arslan, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.

The national Italian publication claim the 27-year-old had been approached by Inter and the Gunners in recent weeks with the player having entered into the final year of his current deal, but Besiktas have managed to convince the player to commit his future to the club in a new deal that would keep him in the club until 2022.

Arslan was born in Germany and began his career with Hamburg before making the move to Turkey in 2015. He has played for both Germany’s Under 21 side and Turkey’s Under 21 team in the past but is yet to be called up to the senior level by either country.

The German is a defensive midfield player who likes to dribble and is a strong passer of the ball. He was likely only a potential alternative if manager Arsene Wenger had chosen to sell either Mohamed Elneny or Francis Coquelin this summer, with both players having been linked with moves away from the North London club this summer.
