Confirmed By BBC: Oxlade Snubs Chelsea, Agrees Term With Liverpool

Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.

Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is definitely one of the main players to keep track of the contract situation today, and tomorrow, as the summer transfer window slams shut. It was thought that his future had been concluded, with a reported agreement in place to send him across town to Chelsea.

The Ox has nixed the £40 million move, according to the BBC, with the 24-year-old Englishman having preference for a move to Liverpool or he considers staying at Arsenal.

 Why is this not happening?

“Oxlade-Chamberlain believes the Blues planned to use him at wing-back, and his primary reason for wanting to leave Arsenal is to play in central midfield,” the BBC writes.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is part of the “contract expires at the end of this season” brigade at Arsenal, and if the Emirates don’t receive the kind of offer they would find acceptable within the next day and a half, they risk losing him next season for free. Liverpool are expected to launch an official bid before the transfer deadline tomorrow. So you never know what might happen with the next day.
