Arsenal will take on Ostersund in the Europa League on tonight
The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed three players who will definitely start for Arsenal against Ostersund on Thursday night.
The Gunners go into the second leg of their Europa League round of 32 with a 3-0 advantage following their success in Sweden last week.
So with Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester City looming large on the horizon, Wenger is expected to rest several of his senior stars for Thursday’s game at the Emirates.
The likes of Laurent Koscielny, Jack Wilshere, Shkodran Mustafi and Mesut Ozil are all set to sit out the clash in north London.
Wenger has insisted, however, that he will be taking the game seriously and his warned his players about underestimating Ostersund.
“They had a timid start (in the first leg) and we took advantage of it,” said the Arsenal boss. “But after they showed they are a good side so for us it is absolutely vital to play well to have a chance to win the game.
“For us, we play at home so we want to win. Look at the results of Ostersund in the Europa League and they are quite impressive, home and away.
“The game demands respect. It would be absolutely stupid for us to go out there and think we could have a stroll. We would have a bad surprise.”
With that in mind, Wenger is expected to name a mixed starting XI – with some youngsters involved, but also with some senior stars.
The French coach revealed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is cup-tied for Sunday’s final, will start – as will goalkeeper David Ospina.
