Forgotten Arsenal player Lucas Perez is to be given another shot by new boss Unai Emery.
The Spaniard became a Gunner in 2016 for a reported fee of £17 million and was given the No. 9 shirt at the club.
However, he played just 11 games for Arsenal in his debut season and despite scoring a hat-trick in the Champions League, the former PAOK was deemed surplus to requirement in the summer of 2017 when he had his shirt number taken off him and handed to new signing Alexandre Lacazette.
He was subsequently sent back to Deportivo on loan, where he made 34 appearances and scored seven goals.
Most Gunners fans had probably forgotten about his existence, with many thinking he was out of the club for good.
Yet as per a report from Spain, the 29-year-old is to be handed a lifeline by his compatriot Emery, as he is set to join the team at the club’s London Colney for pre-season.
While he still likely has a long way to go to impress the North Londoners, and there is set to be a meeting to assess his situation, its positive news for Perez.
