Premier League legends states their prediction for Crystal Place v Arsenal

Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.

Liverpool legend Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to come out on top in a high-scoring game at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners are the Premier League’s form team after Unai Emery’s side strung together seven successive top-flight victories.

Arsenal initially made a slow start to the 2018-19 campaign under Arsene Wenger’s successor after the Gunners lost to Manchester City and Chelsea FC in their opening two fixtures.

The North London club have responded in style to hoist themselves into the top four and move to within two points of leading pack Liverpool FC and Manchester City.

The Emery’s side have scored 22 goals in their nine games in the Premier League this season, having eased to a 5-1 win at Fulham before the international break followed by a 3-1 victory over Leicester City on Monday night.

Only defending Premier League champions Manchester City have scored more times in the Premier League this term to highlight the attacking options at Emery’s disposal.

Crystal Palace have lost their last three Premier League games to heap pressure on Roy Hodgson, with the Eagles sitting two points above the relegation zone.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is confident Arsenal will extend their winning run to nine games, but the retired England international does anticipate Palace getting on the score-sheet at Selhurst Park.

“Palace have lost nine of their last 11 Premier League games against Arsenal and they have only scored three times now in their last eight Premier League games, having missed a vital penalty at Goodison on Sunday with the score at 0-0,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Arsenal continue to start slowly, and you wonder if they will get away with such a trend against the very best.

“But some of their football is terrific on the eye and they look full of goals at present.

“I think the Eagles will score at Selhurst Park but still lose this London derby.”

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored four goals in 57 minutes of Premier League football in his last two top-flight appearances for the north London side.

The Gunners are looking to secure a return to the Champions League this season after Arsenal finished outside the top four in Wenger’s final two seasons in charge.

The north London side could also qualify for Europe’s premier club competition if the Gunners win the Europa League for the first time.

Emery has a rich pedigree in the competition after leading Sevilla to three Europa League titles.
