Mesut Ozil has Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in stitches by risking wrath of Arsenal coach

Arsenal Banter brings you latest update on Arsenal news from top media sites like Daily Mail, Metro, The Express, The Independent, The Telegraph, SkySports and so on.

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil underlined his status as Arsenal’s undisputed nutmeg king during Wednesday’s training session, risking the wrath of Pablo Villanueva in the process.

The German star has been used sparingly during Arsenal’s Europa League campaign thus far, playing just 58 minutes of his side’s three games in the competition.

Ozil trained alongside his teammates ahead of Thursday’s match against Sporting Lisbon as the Gunners aim to maintain their 100% start in Group E and book their place in the knockout phase.

The mood appeared to be a relaxed on at the club’s Colney base with Ozil in particularly good spirits, humiliating teammate Matteo Guendouzi in a rondo exercise before turning his attention to Villanueva.

With Unai Emery’s assistant conducting a drill, Ozil casually rolled a ball through the legs of the Spaniard with the sole of his foot, much to the amusement of Lucas Torreira and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international cut a frustrated figure when he was taken off with 20 minutes remaining and his side trailing against Liverpool at the weekend and could be in-line to start, as he did in Lisbon a fortnight ago, alongside Danny Welbeck.

‘We want to] find our focus in two ways – one is in this competition, which is very important for us. It’s one way [to win] a title and get into the Champions League next year,’ said Emery at his pre-match press conference.

‘The second focus is on our work, to continue to improve and to continue with the players, taking responsibility and confidence.
‘Above all, I want to continue at the Emirates [together] with our supporters with the same spirit as in the same matches as against Blackpool, Leicester, Liverpool.

‘Tomorrow is a very good test for us for those two things I have spoken about.’
