Football in England is set to return next month with the Premier League announcing yesterday that Manchester City versus Arsenal will be one of two games restarting the 2019-20 season on Wednesday 17 June.
The FA have this morning announced that the FA Cup will also continue, with Sheffield United versus Arsenal being one of the quarter-final ties.
We had originally been scheduled to play at Bramall Lane on Sunday 22 March but for football in England being suspended just over a week earlier following the COVID-19 outbreak.
Today’s announcement from the FA states that the FA Cup quarter-finals are rescheduled for the weekend of 27-28 June but are scheduled to being rescheduled. That really depends on whether the season can go ahead or not, which is looking more and more likely by the week.
Arsenal players are now back in phase two of team training which allows to train in a group and with contact. Previously, all training was non-contact in a maximum group of five and for no longer than 75 minutes.
The FA Cup semi-finals have been rescheduled for 18-19 July and the final on Saturday 1 August 2020. The locations of each game has not been confirmed with the semi-finals and final usually taking place at Wembley Stadium.
The full quarter-final lineup provisionally scheduled for the end of June is:
Leicester City v Chelsea
Newcastle United v Manchester City
Sheffield United v Arsenal
Norwich City v Manchester United
