Arsenal are believed to be monitoring Newcastle United’s Freddie Woodman as a potential solution to the goalkeeping the Gunners feel they have at the moment.
Runar Alex Runarsson was brought in to the Emirates Stadium outfit when Emiliano Martinez departed for Aston Villa, however it is thought the Iceland international goalkeeper has failed to impress Mikel Arteta which is why he has turned his attention to the transfer market.
According to a report by football.london, Woodman is now a consideration for the Gunners in their efforts to add competition for Bernd Leno.
The 23-year-old certainly has the pedigree to be a top goalkeeper, as he helped the Under-20 England side win the 2017 FIFA World Cup. However, experience at the top level has not been forthcoming, as he has only been limited to three appearances for the Magpies; which may have left him with plenty of time to visit sites such as www.jokaroom.net.
In fact, Woodman has been out on loan a number of times throughout his career but impressed during his time at Swansea City. Whilst in South Wales, he managed to keep 15 clean sheets in the 25 appearances he has made so far.
Woodman could consider a move to the Emirates Stadium favourable, as he would be able to potentially work closely with his father, who is the Head of under-23s Goalkeeping Team at the club.
Whether he would be able to get first-team football is questionable, however with just Leno in his way should he make the move to London, his chances will be greater considering he is behind Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow at Newcastle.
With Runarsson struggling to make an impact at the Gunners despite having a solid debut showing, it is believed he could be loaned out to acquire more experience and potentially challenge for the number one spot in the future.
