Who are Chelsea?
Chelsea Football Club, commonly referred to as Chelsea, is an English professional football team that competes in the Premier League, the top tier of the English football system.
Chelsea’s home stadium is Stamford Bridge, which has a seating capacity of 40,834. The Blues are among England’s most successful clubs, having won 30 competitive honours, including 6 league trophies and 8 European titles.
The London club were established on 10 March 1905 and won their first major title, the League championship, in 1955.
In 2017, under new manager Antonio Conte, the Blues won their sixth English trophy, and the following campaign won their eighth FA Cup.
In 2018 the Italian tactician was sacked after a 5th-place finish and replaced with another Italian coach Maurizio Sarri, under whom the London club reached the League Cup final, which they lost on penalties to Man City and won the Europa League for a second time, beating Arsenal 4–1 in the final.
Maurizio Sarri then left Chelsea to become coach of Juventus and was then replaced by former midfielder Frank Lampard.
In Frank’s first campaign, Lampard guided the Blues to 4th place in the Premier League and reached the FA Cup final, losing 2–1 to Arsenal.
Frank Lampard was dismissed in winter 2021 and replaced with Thomas Tuchel. Under the German manager, the Blues reached the FA Cup final, losing 1–0 to Leicester City, and won their second UEFA Champions League trophy with a 1–0 victory over Man City in Portugal.
Chelsea also won the 2021 UEFA Super Cup by defeating Villarreal 6–5 in a penalty shootout in Belfast.
What are Chelsea’s predictions for next season?
Chelsea had a fantastic season as they won the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup. The Blues finished the Premier League in fourth place and qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
Thomas Tuchel wants to bolster the squad during this summer transfer window. The London club already signed Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan and Marcus Bettinelli from Fulham.
The Blues are heavily linked with Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde.
Meanwhile, Tammy Abraham is strongly linked with several European clubs, like Roma, Arsenal and West Ham United.
Chelsea start the Premier League season at Stamford Bridge with Crystal Palace on 14 August.
